Building a safer community starts with knowing the people who live, work and serve alongside you. This September, Myrtle Beach residents will have an opportunity to connect with neighbors, police officers, firefighters and other community partners during National Night Out 2026.
The free community event will take place Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Exhibit Hall C, 2101 N. Oak St.
National Night Out is designed to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement while encouraging neighborhood involvement in public safety. Myrtle Beach’s event brings that mission to life by creating a relaxed setting where residents can meet members of the Myrtle Beach Police Department, Myrtle Beach City Council, public works teams, emergency response personnel and other community organizations.
More Than a Public Safety Event
National Night Out is also meant to be fun. Families can explore police, fire and public works vehicles, meet local first responders and enjoy an evening filled with vendors, face painting, arts and crafts, music and other activities.
Attendees can also bring their bicycles for a bike swap from 6 to 9 p.m.
Myrtle Beach Neighborhood Watch groups will be part of the evening as well, giving residents an opportunity to learn more about getting involved in their own neighborhoods. Participating groups can also compete in the “One Pot Wonder” competition, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place.
Stronger Connections Help Build Safer Neighborhoods
Events like National Night Out provide something that statistics alone cannot: an opportunity for residents and the people responsible for keeping Myrtle Beach safe to get to know one another.
Those relationships can make a difference. Residents who are engaged with their neighborhoods are better positioned to recognize concerns, share information and work with law enforcement before problems grow. At the same time, informal conversations give residents a chance to learn more about the officers, firefighters and other professionals serving their community.
