Green means low hazard, yellow means moderate surf or currents (use caution), and red means high hazard — strong currents or surf. Double red means the water is closed to the public, and purple warns of dangerous marine life. Always check the flag flying at the nearest lifeguard stand, and see Beach & Water for more.

Umbrellas are generally allowed, but tents, canopies and large shade structures are restricted in most communities and seasons. Review Tent & Umbrella Rules before you pack.
